Facebook announced its plan to begin developing the "metaverse," a virtual and augmented reality internet space, by hiring 10,000 specialized European Union workers over the next five years, according to Yahoo News. The company said it shares the "European values like free expression, privacy, transparency and the rights of individuals" and is eager to incorporate those into the project. European Policy Center EU Lead Digital Policy Analyst Andreas Aktoudianakis said this announcement is a "positive narrative" as a way to mend Facebook's "bad reputation."
