Facebook has released a statement announcing it will shut down its Partner Categories tool, Reuters reports. The service allowed advertisers to use data brokers to send Facebook users targeted ads. “While this is common industry practice, we believe this step, winding down over the next six months, will help improve people’s privacy on Facebook,” the tech company said in a statement. Meanwhile, three users of the Facebook Messenger app have filed a lawsuit against the social media network for allegedly violating their privacy by collecting their text messages and phone calls.
