Colombia’s data protection authority, the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, ordered Facebook to strengthen protection of its 31 million Colombian users’ personal data by June 14. Facebook “has the duty to be more than diligent” in processing personal data to guarantee users’ privacy, a news release states. Meanwhile, Facebook Messenger Vice President Stan Chudnovsky spoke about plans to extend end-to-end encryption to the chat tool, saying the company needs to “figure out how to do as much as we can on safety, while being the leaders on privacy.”
