A report from Deloitte Canada is calling for laws to address issues raised by the use of artificial intelligence. Key areas of concern focus on the use of AI in law enforcement, including the use of predictive policing by police departments, as well as the government’s use of algorithmically driven data to determine if an individual poses a “risk” to the community. The latter of which has been found to violate human rights law by Citizen Lab, the Financial Post reports. “We need the government, we need the regulation in Canada,” Deloitte Canada National AI Services Leader Mahdi Amri said.
