On July 9, New York City’s administrative code was amended to include § 22-1201 - 22-1205, which covers biometric identifier information and protects against the collection, storage, sharing or use of such data. The new law took effect as other cities and states around the U.S. are considering their own measures to limit the negative effects of biometric deployments, especially facial recognition technology.
