Morrison & Foerster has announced an Oct. 5 seminar entitled, “The New EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): What You Need to Know Now” in Palo Alto, California, the firm reports on its website. Morrison & Foerster’s Lokke Moerel and Alex van der Wolk will speak. “Think you don’t need to worry about the GDPR because you’re a U.S. company? Think again,” the report states. The GDPR will “have an unprecedented reach to non-EU companies targeting or monitoring EU consumers; have particular repercussions for digital business models, including interest-based advertising and consumer profiling, and expand the obligations of service providers,” all while having significant enforcement fines for those companies who don’t comply, the report states. The event will function as “a practical discussion about what you can expect and how to begin preparing.”
