Europol provides SWIFT system data to CIA

Official reports to U.S. Congress show Europol has been providing data from the European SWIFT financial transaction system to the U.S. Department of the Treasury for data mining since 2009, Radio FM4 reports. Copies of the data were then sent to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, since approximately 2016. The CIA published documents on the data sets at the request of U.S. Sens. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., and Ron Wyden, D-Ore., stating it used the data to search for terrorists and for other purposes, which are prohibited under the agreement.
