Recently, major companies have been winning legal appeals of enforcement decisions rendered by several EU member state data protection authorities, the Wall Street Journal reports. Courts in Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. ruled in favor of companies, such as Amazon and Experian to overturn multimillion-euro fines, affirming their privacy practices were in keeping with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In one such ruling, a U.K. court ruled in favor of Experian, which appealed a U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office decision that originally prohibited the company from processing data from various public sources.
