Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders said the European Commission will adopt revamped standard contractual clauses on Friday, Reuters reports. "We have incorporated some elements of transparency (and) accountability in full compliance with the (EU General Data Protection Regulation)," Reynders said. He added it will be the responsibility of organizations to "see if they only use SCCs or put additional safeguards like encryption and pseudonymized personal data." Biden seeks 'political agreement' with EU on data transfer deal

Politico reports U.S. President Joe Biden seeks to secure a "political agreement" with the European Union to help facilitate a data transfer deal, according to five people with knowledge of the conversations. Biden will meet with EU leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, during the EU-U.S. summit June 15. The president's goal is to have the political agreement lay the groundwork to eventually replace the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield agreement.
