TechCrunch reports the European Commission has launched a project to test ethical guidelines on the creation and use of artificial intelligence technology. The commission's High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence, which released the guidelines in December, seeks to ensure the rules can be implemented in practice and will do so by testing them with a wide range of stakeholders, including international organizations and companies from outside the commission. The pilot will end in 2020, whereafter the AI group will review the assessment lists for the key requirements while building on feedback.
