Following the success of the EU General Data Protection Regulation in setting the global standard for data protection, the European Union has doubled down on its position as the ethical regulator for tech. This past April, a high-level group of professionals from academia, industry and civil society set up by the European Commission presented its first set of guidelines for artificial intelligence designed to establish clear policies for the development and release of AI tools. The commission wants feedback on the guidelines during a pilot phase that will begin this summer. Jennifer Baker has the details for The Privacy Advisor.
