European officials say Russia’s invasion of Ukraine highlights the need for a global data privacy agreement, The Wall Street Journal reports. European Commission Head of International Data Flows and Protection Bruno Gencarelli said the invasion shows a “dividing line” between countries with regulations protecting privacy and those that could misuse data, adding “being a like-minded partner probably has more value and weight than even a few months or years ago.” European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski said, “There is a need for more world-wide convergence.”
