European Union member states have voiced their approval to potentially expanding the Passenger Name Record directive to include more methods of transportation, EUobserver reports. The PNR directive is currently applicable to air travel and requires air carriers to send customer information to authorities. When Romania held the presidency of the Council of the European Union earlier this year, it issued a questionnaire about placing more forms of transportation under the directive."The percentages were the following: 83 percent wants to broaden it to maritime, 76 percent to railway, and 67 percent to road traffic," the report revealed.
