The European Council and Japanese leaders reaffirmed their “close and comprehensive” partnership and issued a joint statement to recap the EU-Japan Summit 2022. The 10th item of the joint statement announced the launch of the EU-Japan Digital Partnership. The partnership would look to advance cooperation on a host of digital issues to spur economic growth. There would be a continuation of “Data Free Flow with Trust” to facilitate safe and secure cross-border data flows by enhancing privacy and security.
