The European Parliament approved the eIDAS Regulation, legislation creating a continent-wide digital identity framework, GovInfoSecurity reports. The bill now heads to final trilogue negotiations between Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union. It would require online platforms with more than 45 million European users to accept the digital identity as a logon credential.
