Euractiv reports a leaked draft of EU proposals for an artificial intelligence strategy does not include a ban on facial recognition. The bloc had recently considered a moratorium on facial-recognition technology for three to five years. The latest document suggests the deployment of biometric AI systems across member nations needs a "clear criteria" with an assessment of "the purpose for which the technology is used and on the safeguards in place to protect individuals."
