As part of the European Commission’s acceptance of its $2.1 billion acquisition of Fitbit, Google promises not to use the health tracker data for advertising purposes in Europe, The Wall Street Journal reports. The data must also be stored separately from any other data Google uses in ads. Under the deal, these commitments will be enforced for 10 years, while the advertising-related commitments can be extended for an additional 10 years.
