A lawsuit has been filed against Equifax in the U.K. High Court, Business Up North reports. The lawsuit, brought forth by Hayes Connor Solicitors, is the first representative data breach claim to be served to the court. “We estimate the total value of the claim to be [100 million GBP] which, if won, Hayes Connor would distribute to all affected individuals,” Hayes Connor Solicitors Managing Director Kingsley Hayes said. The firm was able to file the lawsuit after the U.K. Court of Appeal ruled earlier this month a claim for compensation could be filed for one data breach victim and then be awarded to the entire affected population.
