The Electronic Privacy Information Center announced it filed an amicus brief with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in a case regarding privacy protections against warrantless government access to personal data related to public transportation cards. EPIC argues the current statute in place for this data access "is a relic of the past that is at odds with modern technologies" and believes a move toward "an approach based on modern privacy law principles" would be appropriate.
