The Electronic Privacy Information Center seeks to obtain a privacy impact assessment for a database proposed by the Department of Homeland Security aimed at tracking journalists and “media influencers.” EPIC is filing the Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, alleging DHS failed to conduct a PIA as required by law for the database, which would also monitor thousands of news outlets and social media accounts. DHS did not respond to EPIC’s initial request for an assessment.
