A group of organizations has developed a tool to help notify the proper authorities following a data breach. The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security is working with the Office of the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Germany to create the free tool. Data controllers will be able to submit a personal data breach notification to the relevant data protection authority. The notification tool covers every type of personal data breach and industry, both public and private. The tool also alerts the authority to the severity of the breach.
