After the recent presidential election of Donald Trump, encrypted communications app Signal, which employs end-to-end encryption, has seen a 400 percent increase in daily downloads, BuzzFeed News reports. Moxie Marlinspike, the founder of the company behind Signal, said, "There has never been a single event that has resulted in this kind of sustained, day-over-day increase." Marlinspike continued: "Trump is about to be put in control of the most pervasive, largest, and least accountable surveillance infrastructure in the world ... People are maybe a bit uncomfortable with him." Meanwhile, Scientific American looks into what the first 100 days of Trump's administration will look like, specifically with regard to privacy, security and net neutrality.
