Employers in the Netherlands want Dutch privacy laws amended in order to allow for more drug and alcohol tests, the NLTimes reports. The two employer organizations calling for the change, MKB-Nederland and VNO-NCW, also want to have the ability to request more information from sick employees. While the employers said asking for more information could help sick employees get back to work faster, trade unions FNV and CNV voiced their criticisms of the proposal, saying the privacy of ill employees is already challenged by the relationship between health services and occupational physicians.
