  • The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission plans to review how artificial intelligence tools and technology are being applied to employment decisions, Bloomberg Law reports. In addition to forming a working group for studies, the EEOC will hold stakeholder sessions and devise technical solutions for achieving algorithmic equality.
  • According to The Information, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission hired Meredith Whittaker as an AI policy adviser. Whittaker was conducting AI research at New York University and previously worked as an AI researcher at Google.
  • Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Schwarzman College of Computing Dean Daniel Huttenlocher wrote an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal questioning the status of human reason as artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent.
