Personal data of 1.2 million students was exposed through a misconfigured Google Cloud Storage bucket belonging to U.S.-based education software company SmarterSelect, TechCrunch reports. The data, collected by programs offering financial support, included academic transcripts, resumes and invoices dated from November 2020 to Sept. 1, 2021. Files also contained contact information, parental income and personal experiences. It is unclear whether those affected were notified.
