The European Data Protection Supervisor welcomed into force Regulation 2021/2303, which establishes a European Union Agency for Asylum. The regulation grants the EUAA, which replaces the European Asylum Support Office, new powers to strengthen cooperation and information exchange among Member States. The EDPS said the regulation “places a stronger emphasis on data protection in the field of asylum when compared to the previous Regulation.”
