European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski does not believe a new EU-U.S. data transfer mechanism will be agreed upon in the near future, Reuters reports. Wiewiorowski said replacing the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield likely won't happen "in the space of weeks, and probably not even months." Additionally, Wiewiorowski said an agreement would hinge on leveling U.S. national security laws with EU fundamental rights, which he believes may not be an initial priority with the incoming Biden administration.
