The European Data Protection Supervisor released its opinion on data protection considerations related to the European Commission's New Pact on Migration and Asylum. While it supports a new management system for migrants and asylum seekers, the EDPS explains data protection is "one of the last lines of defence for vulnerable individuals" and needs to be included in any framework. "In general, the EDPS considers that an in-depth fundamental rights and data protection impact assessment should be carried out," the EDPS wrote.
