European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski published opinions on two proposals from EU institutions to modernize and harmonize standards around cybersecurity and infosecurity practices. Wiewiórowski welcomed the efforts to draft consistent standards across institutions, noting they "provide a good basis" and he implored further work on "assurances for the rights and freedoms of individuals when their data is processed in security operations." Additionally, Wiewiórowski recommended both proposals be aligned with the proposed NIS2 Directive with the goal of "integrating the privacy and data protection perspective."
