The European Data Protection Board released its guidelines on the concept of data controllers and processors under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The guidelines were created to "clarify the meaning of the concepts and to clarify the different roles and the distribution of responsibilities between these actors." The document includes definitions of both controllers and processors, the relationship between the two roles, and the consequences of joint controllership.
