The European Data Protection Board and the European Data Protection Supervisor published a joint opinion with views and recommendations on the proposed EU Data Act. While the EDPB and EDPS welcome the lack of infringement the proposal has with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, both regulators want to "ensure that data subjects’ rights are duly protected." EDPS Wojciech Wiewiórowski noted the current draft does not "properly" define government access to data while EDPB Chair Andrea Jelinek said a "clear distribution of competences" among regulators is needed to avoid "fragmented supervision."
