The European Data Protection Board adopted guidelines on certification mechanisms as a tool for transferring personal data to third countries. EDPB Deputy Chair Ventsislav Karadjov called the guidelines “ground-breaking,” noting they “provide guidance on how this tool can be used in practice and how it can help maintain a high level of data protection.” The EDPB also adopted a dispute resolution binding decision on the EU General Data Protection Regulation’s Article 65 regarding a draft decision issued in France following a complaint-based inquiry into hospitality company Accor.
