The Washington Post Editorial Board writes the resignation of a Catholic priest after cellphone data confirmed his use of a dating application and tracked his location to gay bars “should be alarming.” Such an invasion of someone’s intimate life “could easily happen to everyone,” the editorial said, adding, "The consequences of Congress’s failure to pass federal legislation governing how companies collect, process and sell the reams of data available in the Internet age are starker than ever.”
