The European Commission presented a series of actions member state leaders can follow to ensure the digital single market comes into place by the end of the year. The Commission touts the value of the digital single market ahead of the implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and is hoping for all proposals related to the market be submitted by the end of 2018. “Data is at the heart of our economy and society. It needs to flow freely, to be safe and secure. The European Commission has put forward all the proposals for a digital single market; it is now EU leaders who have the keys to unlock digital opportunities,” European Commission Vice President Andrus Ansip said.
