An investigation by national newspaper NRC alleges the Dutch National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security used fake accounts to track politicians, activists and religious leaders, NL Times reports. Internal documents and conversations with stakeholders determined intel would reveal who individuals were married to, if they had children and sometimes included photographs. Reports were said to have been sent to municipalities, police, the General Intelligence and Security Service, and foreign security services.
