Telecompaper reports the Dutch Parliament approved a budget increase for the Netherlands data protection authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. The boost will allow the AP to boost its staffing from 184 employees to 470. Prior to the new budget, the regulator's constraints included having just one staff member dedicated to sweeping for data security issues one day a week. The AP previously indicated it needed more support to enhance and broaden its work.
