Wojciech Wiewiórowski, the assistant supervisor at the European Data Protection Supervisor, called the 42nd meeting of the Network of DPOs a success as it created an opportunity for EDPS to meet with data protection officers across EU institutions and exchange experiences ahead of the revised Regulation (EC) 45/2001. The event offered an opportunity for the EDPS to work with partners on providing guidance on the rights and obligations of the DPO under the revised law. The meeting of DPOs included an examination of the principle of accountability and how DPOs would be best situated to “ensure, verify and demonstrate compliance” under the new regulations.
