Reuters reports on the growing push to hire data protection officers ahead of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The IAPP has found more than 28,000 DPOs will be needed in Europe and the U.S., and 75,000 will be needed worldwide. Job listings for DPOs have shot up more than 700 percent on Indeed.com over the past 18 months, and Mimecast DPO Marc French said he receives between eight and ten phone calls a week from recruiters about DPO roles. Data privacy training has also been sought ahead of the GDPR. "We already sold out all of our GDPR training through the first six months of 2018," IAPP Content Director Sam Pfeifle said.
