The Bavarian Data Protection Authority has released its 7th activity report covering happenings and initiatives from 2015 and 2016, as per German law, Lexology reports. Among some of the report's highlights are the agency's moves to prepare for the General Data Protection Regulation, its work reacting to cybercrime, and its observation of a noticeable increase in consumer privacy complaints. Regarding the GDPR, "the DPA emphasizes that the increase of the DPA’s responsibilities and power to impose sanctions upon companies, as well as the upcoming closer collaboration with other supervisory authorities and the board, will lead to a substantial increase of workload for the DPA," the Lexology report states. Of additional, particular concern is the potential for the GDPR's future activities to be mostly in English, the report adds.
