AVG Innovation Labs has announced the Do Not Snap badge, a wearable tool that signals to face-recognizing algorithms on various platforms that the wearer wants his or her face blurred in photos, Business Insider reports. AVG Innovation's Maurice McGinley points to "the easiest example" of prime users being children. "They often aren't in control, aren't aware their photos are being taken ... and decisions are being made for them about their image, about their online identity, that can affect them far into the future," said McGinley. While AVG Innovation Labs has open-sourced the software for social media organizations to use, McGinley said he wasn't aware of any plans of social media integration yet. In the meantime, he hopes the device sparks conversation on online privacy.
