A promotion offering free DNA test kits to attendees of a Baltimore Ravens National Football League game has been put off until later in the season after unspecified concerns were raised by state officials. As part of the “DNA Day,” participants would have swabbed the inside of their cheek, dropped the sample into a bin at the stadium, and registered online for the results. Orig3n, the biotech company sponsoring the event, said it follows “stringent security standards” and is “working to address questions from officials from the state of Maryland.” Bethesda-based Sports Privacy Lawyer Bradley Shear, CIPP/US, added he had “serious concerns about the privacy, safety and security of the data being collected, and if fans understand the legal ramifications.”
