Irish Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon has indicated that her office's investigations into some big tech privacy violations are close to wrapping up, the Irish Independent reports. Dixon revealed the DPC has hired specialized lawyers to weigh in on big tech penalties and help draw up the scale for potential fines that will be imposed. "We've taken it on not by reference to any particular inquiry," Dixon said. "But a fine is an inevitability at some point." Dixon did not comment on a specific timeline for announcing decisions or which companies will receive punishment first.
