Tuesday marked the opening of the exhibit floor at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 in Las Vegas. With consumer electronics companies of all stripes vying for attention in Eureka Park, IAPP Associate Editor Ryan Chiavetta, CIPP/US, roamed the floor to see how and if companies — particularly startups — are embedding privacy into their products. For Chiavetta, "the most notable development was the awareness of the EU General Data Protection Regulation." In this dispatch for Privacy Tech, Chiavetta talks with several startups about the effect the GDPR and a growing global privacy awareness have had on their marketing and product design.
