Another group is asking to join in an action started by Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon in the case between privacy activist Max Schrems and Facebook, the Irish Independent reports. DigitalEurope hopes to contribute a brief to the case, with Irish lawyer Michael Cush citing the important issues surrounding the case as the group’s motivation for participating. DigitalEurope represents 62 corporations and 37 national trade associations, including information technology, telecom and consumer electronics companies. The group’s request follows similar motions made by the U.S. government and other digital rights groups, including Digital Rights Ireland and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
