The European Commission is expected to unveil the Digital Services Act this month, a proposed legislative package regulating digital service providers, as well as large online platforms, referred to as “gatekeepers.” IAPP Staff Writer Jennifer Bryant spoke to professionals exploring the proposal’s scope, including Shopify Associate General Counsel and Data Protection Officer Vivek Narayanadas, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, who called it “an incredibly promising opportunity” to address issues and ensure the internet “remains a safe place for users and a competitive space for businesses.”
