African digital rights advocacy group Paradigm Initiative has joined other organizations in voicing privacy concerns over Kenya's Huduma Namba biometric identification card, ITWeb Africa reports. PI is urging the Kenyan Parliament to review the bill supporting Huduma's rollout and consider its implications related to privacy rights. With its argument, PI is seeking to ensure the bill contains data protection provisions, carries principles of fairness and transparency, and does not deny citizens access to services. PI's calls for review in Kenya follow similar privacy and data protection concerns with a new biometric data system in Nigeria.
