The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is accepting applications from organizations developing privacy-enhancing technologies for an upcoming Privacy Technology Demonstration, MeriTalk reports. DHS is specifically looking for public safety technology that addresses citizen concerns over surveillance capabilities. “Security and privacy do not need to be a zero-sum game,” DHS Biometric and Identity Technology Center Director Arun Vemury said, adding technologies may help “provide public safety while protecting the privacy of individuals.” The deadline for applications is April 30.
