The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's inspector general plans to open a probe into claims of warrantless tracking of U.S. citizens via cellphone surveillance technologies, The Wall Street Journal reports. According to a letter from the inspector general to Senate Democrats, the investigation will focus on whether DHS "developed, updated, and adhered to policies related to (cellphone) surveillance devices." The Internal Revenue Service is currently under investigation over surveillance allegations involving the same data.
