The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued an information collection request to gauge public acceptance of new applications of artificial intelligence and facial recognition within national security, Nextgov reports. The ICR looks at specific uses of facial recognition including airports or public buildings. DHS Science and Technology Directorate Program Manager Kathleen Deloughery said the ICR will help to “understand the public’s perception of the risks and benefits of the new technology.”
