As part of the Data Privacy project, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate announced it awarded $1.1 million between two companies to enhance the capabilities of DHS, Nextgov reports. University of Colorado’s Board of Regents received funding to develop a drone detection and tracking system, while Galois was awarded funding to support its FIDes Utility and Risk Assistant, which enhances the department’s Framework for Information Disclosure with Ethical Security platform. “These additions to S&T’s Data Privacy portfolio address critical capability gaps for Homeland Security practitioners and instill trust in emergent technologies,” S&T Physical and Cyber Security Division Director Mary McGinley said.
